The Learning Room Project is a program that provides school-aged children in small, rural villages in the countryside of Morocco access to computers, internet and learning materials.
Sponsorship of a Learning Room provides 4 computers, internet access, tables, chairs, a small refrigerator, projector, and books. The Learning Room will also provide space for training seminars and meetings.
The Learning Room will provide school-aged children the opportunity to learn how to use computers, how to access and benefit from the internet, and participate in training sessions on how to use basic computers programs like Microsoft Word and Excel.

For her 16th birthday, in lieu of gifts, Myriam Assaadi has requested donations be made to her Morocco "project." Her wish is to build something to honor the memory of her grandfather, Lahcen Assaadi, and his ancestral village south of Agadir, called Tioute. As an elected "delegate", Mr. Assaadi was instrumental in bringing the main road to the oasis village as well as other improvements notably plumbing and electricity in the late 1970's.
Myriam will be using the funds raised from her birthday and through various fundraisers throughout the year to sponsor "Lahcen's Learning Room. The village location is still being determined and planned but the learning room will contain books, computers, desks and other learning materials. Plans are in the works for Myriam to help coordinate the completion and "grand opening" of the room with a visit sometime next year.
Volunteer Morocco encourages other teens to get involved in Lahcen's Legacy and sponsor a Learning Room of their own.
